Leafly took a look in the crystal bong to see what the future of cannabis looks like. Last years prediction were 74% accurate by following trends across the United States

Leafly not only looks at the trends for strains, They have thoughts on lifestyle trends, Cannabis Lounges, & Industry predictions.

Here are takeaways from the article

1. Popular Strains

Last year Leafly thought GMO, Breath, & Cake crosses as the strain to look out for. Just like  “Pot-stradamus” predicted, Strains like GMO X Sunset Sherbert, Mendo Breath, & Ice Cream Cake were all hits.

Leafly believes Rainbow Sherbert & crosses will take off. The flavor profile is extra fruity with hints of sour citrus. Another strain they think will take off is the Rootbeer strain. Rootbeer has the same bonus as Rainbow Sherbert has, great genetics. Combining Headband & OG Coffee creates the perfect cerebral high.

2. Lifestyle Trends

Unfortunately I’m not writing this from a cannabis consumption lounge… Thankfully Las Vegas looks to be taking the leap. New state licensed lounges will open up across the downtown Vegas strip. Leafly also believes a rideshare company will partner with these lounges for safe travel back to your hotel room.

Psychedelics also appear on Leafly’s predictions for 2023. Unfortunately there might be backlash due to a high-profile incident. With hype, comes exploitation from people abusing decriminalization.

3. Industry Predictions

Starting with the world’s largest legal cannabis market, Los Angeles, remains stalled because of the large illicit market. Prices will remain low and Brick & mortar outlets will stall due to lawsuits & difficult license rules.

New York will have their first year of legal & licensed sales. Just like when Washington & California first legalized, the prices will be high at first. The demand will far exceed the legal supply that the few dispensaries that opened. Untested illicit markets will still have a demand in the city & parks.

I'm excited to see where this year leads when it comes to cannabis. With each year, the information grows and the science gets better. Here’s to another great year in cannabis!
