Deep Dive: Marijuana coming to Circle K gas stations, a first for cannabis industry
Green Thumb announced plans to expand its medical retail footprint in Florida through a lease agreement with Circle K.
Starting in 2023, Green Thumb plans to launch its test and learn phase of the rollout with approximately ten “RISE Express” branded dispensaries adjacent to Circle K stores in various Florida locations.

A Lease Deal with a Convenience Store?
Through the exclusive agreement, Green Thumb can lease space from Circle K in Florida, where the retailer currently operates approximately 600 locations. The RISE Express stores will offer patients a selection of branded cannabis products including RYTHM premium flower, Dogwalkers pre-rolls, incredibles gummies and & Shine vapes.
"The opening of RISE Express stores at Circle K locations is a game-changer. Convenience is a strong channel in retail, and people want more access to cannabis," Green Thumb CEO Ben Kovler, said in the release.

According to Florida’s Department of Health, There are close to 600,000 Floridians currently registered cardholders in the state’s medical marijuana program.
With this many Floridians currently registered, Green Thumb needed a facility to match that demand. The products being produced for retail stores will come from the Green Thumbs new 28-acre facility in Ocala that is expected to open by the end of 2022.

Gas stations appear to be a good fit for cannabis because they are already where lots of Americans shop for age-restricted items such as tobacco and alcohol. Some locations have already started selling CBD & Delta-8 products.
