The Single Source Difference - What it means to us

Single Source is a phrase that is integral to our company. This phrase, which appears on every vape cartridge, PAX Pod, and Dab Concentrate product we sell through our Leafwerx brand is the ultimate criteria for our products.

It is clear that the phrase has significant meaning to our company and our products. So what exactly does it mean? And why does it matter?

Understanding Single Source

Single Source means simply that all our products come from the same single source - cannabis grown and extracted entirely in house by our team, with our own quality standards and efficiencies.

For many cannabis fans, this may seem obvious. Don’t all brands make their own products? Despite the surface appearance of this being the case, it’s actually far more common for companies to outsource portions of their production, meaning that the cannabis product that you purchase from a brand could in fact be a collaboration of multiple different companies. Some companies specialize in growing cannabis, while some companies specialize in extracting it, and others specialize in branding and marketing it.

Next time you’re in a cannabis store, take a look at the variable data label on products. This shows the potency and barcode of the product, but also shows who produces and processes the brand. You will likely see a few names that aren’t a part of the brand or the brand’s parent company.

This is in contrast to Single Source production, which means that every Leafwerx vapor cartridge, PAX Pod, and Dab Concentrate comes from cannabis that we grow, that we extract, and we package, fulfill, and brand.

One last wrinkle - Some brands have started calling their products “Single Origin”. This is similar to Single Source, with one important distinction. Single Origin usually means that the brand is getting all of its cannabis from a single outside farm. Single Source also means that the cannabis comes from a single farm, but that farm is within the company instead of outside.

The Single Source Difference

Single Source production is a significant amount of work, and requires significant investment, planning, and personnel. It also requires strong capabilities in cultivation, extraction, fulfillment, and marketing.

Because of this, it is easy to see why most cannabis brands outsource one or more of these capabilities.

This begs the question - why practice Single Source production at all?

The answer to this question lies in the following blurb that can be found on the back of our products.

The Single Source Difference

All Leafwerx products are single source, meaning they are made from 100% Leafwerx grown cannabis. This single source production allows Leafwerx to deliver products that are consistent, clean, and terpene focused from soil to oil.

In breaking down this blurb, three main benefits for Single Source production emerge: consistency, cleanliness, and terpene focus from soil to oil. Let’s break each on of those benefits down further.

1: Consistency

Consistency means our products deliver the same experience time and time again. Because we are growing our own cannabis & extracting it to our specifications, there is no unnecessary variance in products from different crops from different farms, different extraction standards and personnel. Our production team is thoroughly steeped in company SOPs, ensuring there are minimal variances to each production chain. Furthermore, our cultivators and extractors build a deep understanding of the needs and behaviors of specific strains .

2: Cleanliness

Cleanliness starts with our products being cared for as the biological wonders they are. Instead of being grown in a warehouse under lights, our cannabis grows in the sunshine in Wenatchee, Washington, a town famous for its abundance of locally grown Apples, Cherries, Apricots, and Grapes. Furthermore, no synthetic pesticides ever touch our plants, which we can personally ensure instead of relying on the word of another farm. Cleanliness extends to our extraction and processing labs, which operate under scientific standards of cleanliness with top grade solvents & hardware.

3: Terpene Focused, from Soil to Oil

Terpenes are some of the most alluring, fascinating aspects of cannabis. It is through terpenes that strain specific characteristics emerge, making strains like Black Afghani Rose a significantly different experience than than strains like Nine Pound Hammer #6. Terpenes give strains like Forbidden Fruit its luscious candy fruit nose, while they give strains like Sour Diesel its pungent loud gas nose. They make strains with Myrcene relaxing, strains with Linalool calming, and strains with Pinene energizing.

Terpenes simply make cannabis much more magical than just its THC percentage, and prioritizing them means more accurately capturing the true essence of the cannabis strain. Because of the magic of terpenes, we focus on maximizing their production within the cannabis plant, and then preserving them throughout extraction, packaging, and fulfillment.

Single Source production allows us do this from soil to oil. We select strain genetics based on their distinctive terpene profiles, cultivate them in the sunlight to maximize terpene profiles in the plant, and extract with methods that preserve the precious, fragile terpene profiles of these strains so that you can experience the signature of each strain in a convenient vapor cartridge, PAX Pod, or dab concentrate.

Consistency, Cleanliness, and Terpene Focus are what make Leafwerx products stand out. These attributes all come from our Single Source production, which is why we proudly label every Leafwerx product with the Single Source badge.
